I compiled recent PMS beta build 396 which isn’t available in official download area in PMS forum yet.
PS3 Media Server build 396 download:
Here is the changelog and here a detailed overview about changes in PMS.
PMS now is using mediainfo to get infos regarding codecs used in media files. The automatic choice between muxing or transcoding works better because of this new feature.
Update
PMS rev. 400 is out now. Several bugs introduced recently have been fixed.
If PMS is doing transcoding even if muxing should be possible please use mediainfo to get the codec infos about your media file. After that post a message to latest build discussion thread. Please note working PMS version and tested version 1.20.396. Shagrath will then correct behaviour in coming builds.

post your infos to this thread: http://ps3mediaserver.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=919
Thanks for helping getting PMS better!
Best regards, Otmanix
Probably a stupid question, but I’ve looked around real good and didnt find it… where is the official download area? I can always find the files I know to exist but I can’t find anywhere on their site where the files might actually be listed…
BTW thanks very much for your redistributions! They help a LOT!
@Luiz:
here are the official download areas:
PMS latest beta build: http://ps3mediaserver.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=3217
PMS stable builds: http://code.google.com/p/ps3mediaserver/downloads/list
Shagrath, the main developer of PMS, doesn’t put every revision in beta download area because of a lack of time. I compile PMS by myself and sometimes put revisions for download on my blog, generally revisions which aren’t available at official download area at that time.
Hi Otmanix,
Have you completely stoppped posting the latest PMS builds?
On the forum I see people talk about build 404 already and I would also like to test it but I don’t know how to compile it myself for Linux.
(on the forum I can only find a “How to compile PMS for Windows” batch file solution).
Kind regards, A.
@AlphaMale:
There’s a good step by step guide for Ubuntu Linux including compiling (already mentioned in the howto): http://ps3mediaserver.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4253
At the moment I don’t spend time with PMS, so no compiling happened. On the one hand I started learning French in adult evening classes. On the other hand I bought a Popcorn hour A200 which is directly connted to my tv and which should act as streaming server for my Philips streamium internet radio. The A200 is brand new and costs hours playing with it. Third reason is I bought “heavy rain” for PS3 which is a fantastic game… And the rest of the time I spend on my job in order to afford these hobbies
Best regards, Otmanix
